It is essential that you also check with the airline you intend to travel with as well as your own government’s travel advice before booking a holiday and/or flights. As the situation regarding the pandemic still remains fluid, we have put very flexible cancellation and postponement policies in place.

Ecuador & Colombia are presently open. We are taking bookings for riding tours in 2021 and 2022 in Ecuador and in Colombia as well as all our other destinations: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Chile-Argentina and Uruguay. In fact, we’ve already welcomed international travellers in the last few months in Ecuador and we can very easily accommodate last-minute requests. Whether you’re looking to plan ahead or are searching for a last-minute escape, thanks to 25 years of experience, we have a broad range of fantastic riding tours to explore South America’s most awe-inspiring wilderness landscapes including challenging itineraries for experts, routes for beginner riders and trips catering for riders and ‘non-riders’ so your family/friends can join you!

  • Ecuador’s borders are open including easy access to the Galápagos Islands.

  • Entry into Ecuador is straight-forward, well organised and simple.

  • For your return home: with quick result 24/7 Covid PCR tests at Quito Airport (at only USD40), no need for your itinerary to be interrupted.

  • No mandatory quarantine is required.

  • Ecuador has received the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) ‘Safe Travels’ certificate, which recognises governments and companies around the world who have adopted health and hygiene global standardised protocols. (add the link)

  • A certificate of complete vaccination against COVID-19 will be accepted on arrival.

  • Alternatively, a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test is required up to 3 days (not 72 hours) prior to arrival in Ecuador allowing you more time.

  • Children less than 2 years old are exempt from presentation of a vaccine certificate or negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result.

  • Local restrictions and special rules may apply in some national parks and regions in Ecuador – we will take care of all that for you.

  • COVID-19 tests are easily available and results issued in under 72 hours enabling you to complete your travel requirements for your journey home –we will take care of all that for you.

  • From 1 July, tourist activities are allowed in the Galápagos Islands. 

  • Commercial flights connecting the Islands are operating.

  • Foreigners wishing to enter the Galapagos Islands must either present a negative PCR test for COVID-19, taken 72 hours prior to the date of arrival to the Galápagos islands, or present a COVID-19 vaccination card, or its equivalent, with the final dose administered at least 14 days prior to travel.

We’re delighted to have rides confirmed in Ecuador for the rest of 2021 and we feel that our enhanced flexible Booking, Postponement & Cancellation Policy is a great help in these complicated times. 

Mostly private groups are booking at present but there are some options available for riders to join our fixed departure rides for travel later in the year.


Some guests are also choosing to enjoy solo rides, accompanied just by our knowledgeable bi-lingual guides.

Feedback from one of our volunteers who left Ecuador late June 2021: “I arrived at Quito Airport 2 ½ hours pre flight departure -40 minutes later, I had done my Covid PCR test and already received my Covid PCR results from the 24/7 Quito Airport Test Centre on my phone by Whatsapp and email. Test cost: $40 USD and zero hassle.” Marysa, 30th June 2021.



  • Colombia’s borders are open. 

  • No mandatory quarantine is required.

  • You cannot enter Colombia if you have symptoms of COVID-19, have tested positive or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive in the last 14 days.

  • Between 24 hours and 1 hour prior to flying to Colombia, you must fill out the ‘Check-Mig’ form, available on the Migración Colombia website. You will receive a confirmation email that you will need to present upon arrival in Colombia.

  • COVID-19 tests for the return journey home are easily available and results issued in under 72 hours enabling you to complete your travel requirements for your journey home.




  • Argentina’s borders remain closed to international tourism. We are hopeful that by the end of the year borders will be open.


  • Brazil’s borders are open, however, a mandatory 14-day quarantine period is required.

  • A PCR test is required 72 hours before arrival to Brazil.

  • Visitors must be able to show proof of suitable travel insurance, with medical cover for COVID-19.

  • Entry is not currently permitted for people who have visited the UK within 14 days.


  • While Chile’s land borders are currently closed, Santiago Airport has reopened to international arrivals, however, a mandatory 10-day quarantine period is required.

  • Chile is not currently accepting visitors who have been in the UK 14 days prior to arrival.

  • A negative PCR test is required 72 hours prior to arrival in Chile.


  • Entry requirements include evidence of a negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours pre-arrival.

  • A mandatory 7-day quarantine period is required. 



Many countries are also requiring returning citizens/residents to have taken a negative PCR test prior to boarding their flight home. With this is mind, we will schedule a time for the tests to be carried out within the required timeframe before your departure.



Before you have to confirm your participation, we will lay out our very flexible conditions regarding cancellation/postponement, should this become necessary due to Covid-19. In many cases, we can even allow you to not only switch itinerary but also switch country should a rescheduling become necessary!

We have put in place helpful and supportive booking conditions, which recognise the current situation and make it as safe and secure as possible for you to book directly with Ride Andes.

Each destination has slightly varying booking terms (owing to the in-country arrangements we make to provide each tour). We will inform you of the exact booking conditions and cancellation options at the time of making the reservation.



You’ll need to have appropriate travel insurance at the time of booking your holiday, which covers the full duration of your trip in case of cancellation and/or curtailment.

Your travel insurance needs to provide cover for all the activities and destinations on your travel itinerary.

Your policy must cover COVID-19 medical expenses as well as cancellation cover. This should include cancellation prior to travel (in case you are required to medically quarantine), curtailment of your trip and any medical expenses whilst abroad.
