COVID-19

Update - April 2021

Ride Andes has hosted 5* Trip Advisor Rides across South America for almost 25 years. Like many others, we closed our doors in March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. For several months we have been receiving families, solo riders and small groups of international travelers to ride with us and also to participate in other activities.

Travel to Ecuador – we’re open and entry is easy!

International flights resumed on the 1st of June 2020 and Ecuador is very much ‘open’ having received the World Travel & Tourism Council Safe Travels Certificate, which recognises governments and companies around the world which have adopted health and hygiene global standardised protocols.

At the time of writing, presentation of a vaccination certificate on arrival at Quito or Guayaquil Airports will allow entry into ECUADOR. The vaccine certificate must show that the person has received the complete course of vaccines (if more than one is necessary). We advise that you to check very carefully, with, for example, the airline you plan to travel with.

You can still come if you do not wish to be or are unable to be vaccinated. You are required to present a negative COVID RT-PCR test upon arrival in Ecuador; this test must have been taken within 3 days prior to arriving in Ecuador. NOTE: 3 days and not 72 hours (giving you more time!). Please check carefully with, for example, the airline you plan to travel with.

Children under 2 years of age are the only travelers EXEMPT from presentation of vaccine card or negative COVID RT-PCR test result.

Concerning the GALAPAGOS ISLANDS, the regulations are DIFFERENT, the following requirements currently apply:

All travelers are required to present a negative COVID RT-PCR test upon arrival in The Galapagos Islands (tests are also checked at the mainland airport), a vaccine certificate is not accepted; the COVID RT-PCR test has to have been taken within 96 hours prior to arriving in The Galapagos Islands. The same negative COVID RT-PCR test as the one used to enter Ecuador can be used as long as you still respect the time period (test has to have been taken within 96 hours prior to arriving in The Galapagos Islands). Otherwise a new test has to be done – this is easy and we can help you.

A document called a ‘Salvoconducto’ (“safe passage”) has also to be presented. We help you with this document; it is not difficult to obtain.

OTHER NATIONAL PARKS/REGIONS may also have special rules.

We request that you are very vigilant regarding changes to entry requirements to mainland Ecuador, The Galapagos Islands and other areas.

Please check carefully your own Government’s official information for guidance and confirm requirements with your airline.

Return to your country of residence

Many countries are also requiring a negative PCR test upon return to your country. Knowing this, if you do join us we will schedule a time for the tests to be done within the required timeframe before your departure from Ecuador.

If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact us.

Enjoy a holiday in Ecuador

Based in Ecuador since 1996, we are extremely confident that guests will be able to enjoy an excellent riding experience with us under very safe conditions.

We provide a full-service travel experience, meeting you at Quito Airport and providing private transfers to secluded lodgings. Many of these hand-picked locations offer our guests exclusivity, otherwise a separate annex or wing. Our accommodations comply with national requirements and recommendations regarding Covid-19 (please do contact us with any questions and to request protocol details).

Travel to Ecuador 2021

We have rides booked in Ecuador for the rest of the year  - we feel that our postponement & cancellation policies are a great help in these complicated times (see below or do email us) . Mostly private groups are booking, but for later in the year, there are some options available for riders to join fixed departures. Some guests are also choosing to enjoy exclusive solo rides, accompanied just by our knowledgeable bi-lingual guides.

We continue to take bookings for riding tours in Ecuador and our other destinations for 2021 and 2022. So if you’d like something to look forward to, why not book onto one of our fabulous established riding routes or try one of our remarkable unique new itineraries. Please get in touch.

We have been working hard to ensure all of our offered tours comply with latest recommendations and regulations regarding the prevention of Covid-19 transmission, so you can expect social distancing, high standards of hygiene and masks in enclosed spaces (not that our tours have many enclosed spaces!).

Travel to other Ride Andes destinations

We expect that our various other destinations will also re-open later in 2021, watch this space and do not hesitate to ask us about your destination of interest.

Colombia 2021

Colombia has also opened to international travelers.

With this news we hope to be booking tours in Colombia very soon. Ask us about private tours or if we have any group tours for you to join.

Once again, please check carefully your own Government’s official information for guidance and confirm requirements with your airline. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Bookings, Cancellation & Postponement Policy

Before we finalise any booking, we will re-confirm to you the conditions regarding cancellation/postponement, should this become necessary.

We have put in place helpful and supportive booking conditions for our guests, which recognise the current situation and make it as safe and secure for you to book as directly with us as possible.

Each destination does have slightly varying terms (due to the in-country arrangements we make to provide each tour) so we will inform you of exact booking conditions and cancellation options at the time of making the reservation.

Our suggestion

For 2021, if you are able to book ‘last minute’ then please do contact us to discuss your ideal itinerary and the options available – here in the Ecuadorean Andes we specialise in remote.

For later in 2021 or in 2022, we are accepting bookings and hope you will enjoy taking a look at the great variety of itineraries featured on the Web Site.
