COVID-19 UPDATE - Covid Entry Requirements

As South America’s leading riding specialist we’ve put together the latest travel information to assist you with your riding holiday planning. 


This is a summary of the current situation. The rules continue to evolve, so may well change by the time you begin your trip.  We keep this information under constant review, so please do check back regularly, and we strongly recommend that you also check with the airline you intend to travel with as well as your own government’s travel advice before booking a holiday. The information given here is for guidance purposes and must be checked with the appropriate authorities, we cannot be held liable for information posted here becoming obsolete.


Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Uruguay are all open to international visitors.


As the situation regarding the pandemic still remains fluid, we have put very flexible cancellation and postponement policies in place allowing you to book with confidence. Please contact us for further details.

Since July 2021, we’ve been welcoming international travellers to Ecuador and we can very easily accommodate last-minute requests.   • Visitors are no longer required to be fully vaccinated (from 7th April 2022)

  • A pre-arrival covid test is no longer required to enter Argentina

  • Travellers who are not fully vaccinated are ‘recommended’ to take a covid test within 24 hours of arrival in Argentina. Proof of vaccination could still be asked for to enter some public venues (age 13+)

  • A pre-arrival form must be completed 48 hours priors to travel

  • Evidence of travel insurance with Covid cover is required

  • A hydrofoil service from Buenos Aires to Montevideo, Uruguay has been reinstated

  • The land border with Brazil at Iguazú Falls is open, but many others remain closed or subject to restrictions.

  • British Airways operates direct flights from Heathrow

  • The UK’s FCDO’s website is a good source of information:


  • Visitors from 12 years of age must be fully vaccinated with a final dose administered 14 days prior to travel

  • Pre-arrival covid test is not required if fully vaccinated or under 12 years and travelling with vaccinated parents.

  • For un vaccinated travellers, a PCR or antigen test is required 24 hours before entering (from age 2)

  • Visitors must be able to show proof of suitable travel insurance, with medical cover for COVID-19

  • All travellers to Brazil are required to complete a Travellers Health Declaration form within 24 hours of boarding

  • Direct flights with British Airways and LATAM are operating from the UK.

  • Visitors from 6 years of age must be fully vaccinated

  • Your final dose must have been administered within 6 months prior to travel

  • Pre-arrival Covid test are required within 72 hours of boarding the final flight for Chile (from age 2) with a further test on arrival at Santiago airport (from age 6).  Visitors will need to self-isolate until the results arrive (expected to take 12-24hrs).

  • Visitors must register their vaccination details with the Chilean authorities prior to travel to obtain a ‘mobility pass’ which can take up to one month to process. You can apply at any time before departure.

  • A Chile arrival form must also be completed 48 hours before starting trip:

  • Additionally, travellers are requested to complete a daily ‘self-report’ for 10 days via an online form or ‘C19 Reporte’.  Details will be provided following a health screening on arrival in Chile

  • Evidence of Travel Insurance with Covid cover is required

  • British Airways operates direct, non-stop flights to Santiago

  • All land borders are now open (as of May 2022)

  • Visitors aged from 18 must be fully vaccinated with a final dose administered 14 days prior to travel (local restrictions may apply from age 12.

  • A pre-arrival Covid test is not required

  • Evidence of Travel Insurance with Covid cover is required

  • A pre-arrival form must be completed 24 hours of departure:

  • Direct flights with Avianca from the UK to Bogotá are due to resume from 27 March 2022






Some countries require returning citizens/residents to have taken a negative PCR test prior to boarding their flight home. With this is mind, we will schedule a time for the tests to be carried out within the required timeframe before your departure. At Quito Airport for example testing is carried out 24/7 and costs $45USD.



Before you have to confirm your participation, we will lay out our very flexible conditions regarding cancellation/postponement, should this become necessary due to Covid-19. In many cases, we can even allow you to not only switch itinerary but also switch country should a rescheduling become necessary!


We have put in place helpful and supportive booking conditions, which recognise the current situation and make it as safe and secure as possible for you to book directly with Ride Andes.


Each destination has slightly varying booking terms (owing to the in-country arrangements we make to provide each tour). We will inform you of the exact booking conditions and cancellation options at the time of making the reservation.



  • You’ll need to have appropriate travel insurance at the time of booking your holiday, which covers the full duration of your trip in case of cancellation and/or curtailment

  • Your travel insurance needs to provide cover for all the activities and destinations on your travel itinerary

  • Your policy must cover COVID-19 medical expenses as well as cancellation cover. This should include cancellation prior to travel (in case you are required to medically quarantine), curtailment of your trip and any medical expenses whilst abroad.
