COLONIAL HACIENDAS OF THE ANDES HORSE RIDING VACATION
(CH).
SECTION ONE: 4 days in Highlands of Ecuador, north of Quito
(see below for
map of second section of the ride).
Day 1: a circuit ride returning to CH1, a dazzling array of Andean colour, plus visits to see the local crafts & Otavalo market.
Day 2: riding from CH1 to CH2, fascinating insight into local life, with a visit to see weavers at work on the way.
Day 3: into a pastoral valley with spectacular scenery, exotic plants & many old earthworks.
Day 4: riding through the hills to CH4, often seeing Andean Condors. We 'banquet' at historic hacienda CH5 then cross the Equator line.
Day 5: after at night at a
hacienda north of Machachi (hacienda not shown on map), riders meet the horses
at CH6 (see map below) for some fast paced riding along
the Avenue of the Volcanoes.
Day 6: visit to the bustling Saquisili market, ride to the NP entrance through hamlets & along dirt tracks, ideal footing for the horses - visiting a unique Inca site on the way.
Day 7: a ride to hacienda CH10 over the luna like landscape, rolling hills & arid plains of Cotopaxi National Park . Drive back to Quito (90 minutes) or extend your holiday with a stay at CH11.

With only a 2.5 hours drive at the end of day 4, riders enjoy a complete change of scenery & spend days 5 to 7 in & around
Cotopaxi National Park , Ecuadorian Andes.
